Spitfire Spitfire Valve Cover Venting

My 78 Spitfire has twin HS4 SU's a stage II cylinder head, 4 into 1 SS exhaust header, K&N's and runs like a train. I have an aluminum valve cover that is vented to the carb braethers then to the charcoal canister. I think some oil is getting through to the carb vents and making me look a little smokey. I can vent the valve cover to the c.canister by its self, can I leave the carbs vented to the atmospher or hook them up to c.canister alone ?

I have Weber's on my Spit and I just vent the valve cover to the atmosphere (a hose down to under the car). Works fine My Webers/filter setup don't accomodate the vent hose anyway.
