After 5 years on a set of Primewell tires it became necessary to replace some tires. One back tire was worn bald while the other side had the spare due to a sidewall puncture. Decided that 2 new tires were called for and called my usual sources... "Dead tire size" S***! Tire Express stepped up and said we do have a tire that is recommended to replace that size that is just slightly wider but will fit the car. So $136 later we have 2 new tires on the back. They looked kinda beefy to me but I figured I would try them. Car rode great! All was well until I hit a bump! Now I have rubbing tires... Back to the drawing board again...

Something came up so I forgot to look at the tires last night. I'll do it tonight.

I used 175/70/13 tyres when I had a Spit. If yours are that size but rub you may find the rear spring has settled too far. If the rear wheels lean inwards at the top, (negative camber) you will have to replace the transverse spring.

I run 175/70-13s on my spit...no issues..with 13x5 alloy rims

I did replace the rear spring..the thrust buttons in between the leaves were shot in less that a year..made a set from UHMW plastic and that solved the issue...

you might get away with just replacing the buttons between the springs

OK... Finally made it out to the car and remembered to look at thr tires.

Old= 165/80R13
New= 185/70R13

I got a set of 155/80's for mine at walmart. I think they were like $27 each.
