Spitfire Spitfire Parts Help

Need help locating parts for my 1980 Spit resto.

1. Can you buy the rubber light bulb holder caps separately? I see VB lists the holders (0-515/0-516) for about $9 each and I'm not even sure the rubber caps are included.

2. I have the black license plate light housings. No one lists the rubber gasket/grommet that goes between the housing and body. VB lists the grommet for the chrome housings (1973-77), but the illustration does not match mine, even though the light housings (black & chrome) look identical in the catalog. Does anyone know if the earlier grommet will work on the later housings?

3. I asked about a year ago, but didn't get any leads. The rubber windshield seal on my car didn't come with the chrome insert-it's solid black rubber. I haven't seen any seals that don't require the chrome strip. Is there a source for these rubber-only windshield seals?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Call Scott at TeamTriumph.com
He may have some of this stuff or may be able to point you in the right direction.

I have the same issue as I have a 1980 Spitfire with a window seal that does not have any metal trim. I just emailed TeamTriumph.com with a picture and got the following reply:

<span style="font-style: italic"><span style="color: #FF0000">I have new 71-80 Spitfire windshield seals for $36. Call me at 330-392-7176 for additional information.
Thanks,

I plan to call tomorrow and order mine.

Thank you Tom for the lead!!! :thankyousign:

if it's the license lights I think they are they should be the same as MGB. There are a few things that VB lists as not available for the spit but is for other vehicles that use the same lights.

Understand the feeling. I'm working on a 70 spitfire that has several things unique to 70. VB says things arn't available but find out what other cars used them and they have all the parts. The Lucas parts especially were used on several different vehicles, they only had so many places to get electrics from. I'm composing a list of interchanges as I figure them out just for things like this. I did just look and for the MGB they say the black lamp gaskets arn't available either but I believe they are the same for the chrome. If you can't find any new I'm sure I probably have a pair of decent used ones sitting around here.

That's the kicker, I had no reason to think the side marker lights/rubbers on an MGB were the same as on the GT6. You guys steered me in the right direction. I'm in the parts game, but did not think V/B would not have the same people assemble the catalogues. I have never even ridden in an MG....except the Chinese car my friend made using that Buick 315 in a 61 midget(not bashing MG's by any means, that's not what Triumph owners do).

BRS,

Thanks for the offer. Looked in a Moss catalog this morning and you are right, the chrome light grommet (144-225) looks identical to mine.

Thanks again.
