spitfire OD in MG midget, trany & clutch question

I have a 1974 MG Midget, with a 1500 engine in it. It also has a OD in it from a spitfire (I assume). Would the transmission and clutch be from a spitfire also? Trying to figure this out so when I need to replace the clutch or work on the transmission I know the correct parts to order. Anyone have any experience with this?

The Midget 1500 engine is actually a Sptifire engine. This came about when BMC (the makers of the Midget) and Leyland (the makers of the Spitfire) merged. The clutch is the same for the Midget 1500, Spitfire, and Spitfire OD. the only difference in the transmission is the output shaft and the addition of the O.D. Most of the transmission parts are interchangable.

I would love to see some pictures of that set-up BTW.

Yes, there are a couple of pages that document the swap. You'll need to fabricate a new trans mount, and enlarge the transmission tunnel (usually done via BFH.)

If no-one posts links, I'll find them later tonight.

actually the everything is already installed. i am asking the questions since this is a car that I bought. i am just gathering info on what it is for when I need to replace the clutch or work on the transmission. but if you can go ahead and post the websites, that would be good for reference and for other's reference who would be interested in it.
