Spitfire Spitfire mk2 front suspension too soft

Hello- After installing new "standard springs" and "standard shock absorbers" on my spitfire mk2 the ride is so soft it is really unsafe to drive. It nose dives and bottoms out when breaking and I can push on the front finders and bottom out the car. I called the parts supplier where the parts were purchased and was told that the traditional suspensions were really soft. I am looking for a somewhat stiff front suspension. Not too soft not too stiff, right in the middle.

I ordered a pair of Spax adjustable shocks, I am thinking this will solve the problem? Also thinking of putting the old springs back on the car, they look dated and were about an 3/4" shorter than the new ones that were installed.

Has anyone experienced these front suspension issues? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you

As a simple test no matter the spring, test by pushing car down it should just return ounce but if the car goes down to the stop springs are wrong.
Count the coils my GT 6 has ten coils true it is a 6cyl motor but should be the same and could go to a GT 6 coil
