Seems I finally found the cause of my driveline noise.
Pulled the driveshaft to recheck the cheap u-joints I put in. joints felt smooth. I have a strap type shaft on my Spit and decided to pull the shaft apart and check for wear.
The pin had very little wear but was very rusty. cleaned up the rust a heavy coat of grease and back in the car.
Short trip and no noise....now for a nice long drive
