Went to take my '74 Spitfire out yesterday and the clutch went straight to the floor.
Checked the fluid and found it low. Filled it and pumped it for a while and finally got some pressure. After awhile it started getting soft again even though it's still full.
Physically I'm not able to do any major work on this car.
Know any Triumph mechanics within reach of Lakeland, FL?
 
I don't, but it shouldn't take a "Triumph" mechanic. Pretty much anyone (even the kids at the high school) should be able to figure out whether it's the master or slave that is leaking, and change the appropriate component.
 
once you get air in the line, even filling it up no amount of pumping the clutch peddel will get the air out, if you have a neighbor kid thats willing to crawl under the car while you push the break peddle down and he opens the bleeder valve. Actually I have had luck on my TR6 by taking the slave cylinder off the engine plate tilt the bleeder valve up and then open the valve and when the fluid comes out the air should be out too, but it does require jacking the front of the car up.

Been preoccupied with actual "work" today. I'm within an hour or so of Lakeland, we'll see if we can arrange a grip-n-grin. Only three things in the clutch hydraulic system: master an' slave cylinders and th' line couplin' 'em. 33% cnance on any one! :wink:
