I need some opinions on cam bearings for a Spitfire MK2. I am in the process of doing a ground up restoration on a 1966 Spitfire MK2. The engine I have for the car does not have cam bearings as the later engines do. My question, is there an advantage to having the block bored out for cam bearings, or should I leave it as is? I do not plan to race the car, it will be a driver.

If the block is worn then you should the bearings installed. Otherwise unless you are putting in a wild cam, you really don't need to have cam bearings installed. The load on the cam bearing is really quite low as long as you use a stock / mild performance cam.
 
I second that opinion. I am not going to install them in my current engine project. BTW, it isn't cheap to bore the block for bearings and hard to find someone to do it.
