Does anyone know the procedure to move the bonnet back towards the windshield on the Spitfire 1500? Looking at the gap, it seems like it could use being moved towards the windshield about a half of an inch.
 
In the Bently manual page 391 are detailed instructions.

The overriders hide the front up and down adjustments.

The fore and aft are the bonnet stays(flange shaped things near the upper door hinge sort of)

What it does not say is how to fix it if the hood is racked good. To fix major issues like the DPO twisted the bonnett, you take the hood off and use a tool to bend the support bars to suit as necessary.

This is fairly easy in general but, a trial and error thing.

The whole bonnet and supports are brand new. I don't think the repair shop knew exactly how to adjust the bonnet either. It looks to me like the bolts that hold the bonnet to the support rods all need to be loosened and then move the bonnet but i did not want to do anything until I heard that that was the exact procedure.
 
My son and I worked on our hood. One should take the overridders off and mess around with what you have for a while. The pins(rubber tipped) can move the hood back ¼”+. If after some patient adjusting you cannot get enough adjustment, I am not sure if the next step is to bend the front rods going to the bumper area or to loosen the hood from the framework. Mine does not appear to have much adjustment available in the front frame. I do not think that is the next step.

We were able to bend one of the rods slightly. Ours was twisted.

I thought about trying it this way:

Jack the front of the car and remove both front wheels. Loosen all the framework support bolts in the wheel arches and move it back while it is in the down position. Then re-tighten the bolts.

I can't see any other way to do it correctly.
 
If that is your plan then i think with two people it takes 5 min to remove the hood and turn it over on the ground. I think the bolts will then be easy to get to. I am not sure there is much adjustment in them. I could not wee much on mine.

Have you tried moving the guide pins/adjustment flanges? They will move the hood a lot. The forward frame that holds the hood to the bumper is not a very strong item.

Loosen the front hinges, adjust the rear pins and sockets to bring the bonnet rearward. Retighten the front hinges.

If that isn't enough adjustment, some slipping of the bonnet sheetmetal over the internal tubes can be achieved by loosening the various bolts that hold the sheetmetal skin to them.

Thank you. You were right. The for and aft adjustment for the bonnet was where you said it was and did the trick. Looks great now.
