Spitfire Spit ignition switch removal

I want to remove the ignition switch from my 78 Spit. Does it have to be drilled out or does it slide off the steering colume somehow? Also, if it has to be drilled out, how do you put it back?

Come on guys. Anyone removed an ignition switch (the part the key goes into)? Underneath are 2 rivots I think that need to be removed before taking the collar off the steering colume. Do I need to drill these out?

I'm not familiar with the TR7-style column used in Spitfires from around 1977 on. But with the earlier column lock, "shear" bolts were used to hold on the ignition lock. They do have to be drilled out, and they can be replaced with "normal" bolts.
 
Get a muffler type cut off wheel saw. slice a groove across each bolt,turn it into a flat head screw,get a flat head screwdriver that fits your slice and unscrew. its not hard.
cut completely across the bolt and the outside surronding area,doesn't hurt the brackets strength.
