Spitfire Spit Brake MC question

It's been about 10 years since I've rebuilt a Spitfire dual brake master cylinder. I remember having a problem getting the large seal onto the primary plunger. Getting the seal over either end seemed impossible. I know I cracked two seals before I was able to get one on using the red brake grease. Question is...is there an easier way? Which end is easier to try? Would warming the seal help? (hot water).

Jim, your first two kits were probably the wrong ones as Spitfires had two different bores and the smaller one looks the same to the naked eye and the smaller rubber if you did manage to get it on would not seal. So you must have the larger .075 bore and even the right seal can be a bear. The main seal from a TR4A .075 bore is the same seal, but they are a single system. Yes, you need it to be warm, hairdryer in one hand seal in the other, if it's too hot to hold you are too warm. Wayne
