Spitfire Spit 1500 Bellhousing Problem

Greetings!

I had to replace the front cover on a later model 1500 Spitfire gearbox bellhousing. Since I had the bellhousing separated from the gearbox, I decided to replace the oil seal that is pressed into the bellhousing front cover. Now when I tighten the five bellhousing bolts, the new oil seal bears down on the gearbox input shaft circlip and I can barely turn the input shaft. Tried another seal with the same result. What am I missing? Thanks.

John
