I want to go with a spin on...

Will the oil filter housing from a 998cc mini engine fit directly onto my 948 sprite engine?

description is a little misleading?.. 1275 converted only or all sprite including my 948?

Also whats the most convenient regular north american auto parts store available oil filter will fit this? (I'm betting a GFE443? is not off the shelf here..)
 
I'm using a CARQUEST # 85348. Their is a long list of brands & versions that could work. On this adaptor I wonder about which pipe to the block would work? I think there are a couple of different ones. Other adaptors I have seen come with a flex hose.

I got this one from mini sport
removed the old teclemite one and the stock pipe and fitting matched rite up perfect fit to adapter
 
I have one on my '69 Sprite with a 1275 that longbridgehealey put in the car before I bought it from him. Perhaps he can chime in on the one he used. It's been great for me.
 
There are two possible setups, the one shown above with the extension and not using the extension. The extension moves the filter away form the block and the changing of the filter is a little easier ans it is right below the chassis cutout.
The existing oil line form the block to the filter should just bolt into the new filter. The adapter from the original filter needs to be used.
I have used both with no problem.
I will take a shot tomorrow and post the short setup.
 
Yea what Joe said �� What is nice is you can use the original pipe as it bolts directly on .
no ugly hose . No additional parts.
 
I would avoid Fram filters at all cost and stick with Rover Baldwin carquest or wix.
my experience with fram have all been less than stellar from split housing to crappy bypass valves that bypass constant junk.
