I don't know, I'm actually sorta fond of vim (the improved version, no less). But then I spend a lot of time with it these days...

Does that make me a strange person?

That must be one of the most <span style="font-style: italic">unintuitive</span> editors ever written. Back in '93 we had several customers grumbling about it and since business stunk I had time to write a replacement. It became our most successful product. (Unlike the rest of our stuff, the Windows version actually made a profit.)

This was on a Unix variant. Too bad vi lives on in Linux.

Drew, I had to pull out the ol' O'Reilly to get the commands back.

:wq worked, John. But I took too long messin' and went an' shoved nano onto it. Had NO problem tweakin' several init files and was done in minutes. HAD to do the edits in runlevel 3 or I'd have just stayed with the GUI and Gedit.

*sheesh*

Can't believe I used to <span style="font-style: italic">LIKE</span> doin' this stuff.

So, my birthday present today: looks like we may be adding another member to the pit crew in 9 months. We'll find out for sure when SWMBO visits the doctor next week.

I still do, for some perverse reason. But you do have to keep at it, or it's real easy to forget all the arcane commands and such. Still have a row of those O'Reilly books on my shelf, still useful too.
