I am making progress removing the oil on the bonnet underside. I would say I am 90%, thanks to you all (used dawn, gunk, mineral spirits and finally iso alc). Before Iay down the primer I would like to cut out the holes for turn signals. The B/E lens seem a little "Sabrina"-like. Anyone have any suggestions?

Might be a good chance to try some new LED lamps.
 
How about rear taillights from a Healey BN1 or BN2? they are similar in diameter to a Sprite lamp, but do not stick out so much.

when i found my speedwell it had these insanely large turn signals, the holes were not in line and everything was sort of poorly done, and what I did was to make a plastic mould and sort of a "plug" which I attached to the bonnet with fibreglass (in an easy restorable way) to get a "flat surface" and mount the flat type lucas indicators as someone suggested here. (got mine from a morris minor) If you don't wish to go out of your way and change the shape on the bonnet, you could use earley Volvo PV 544 indicators as they have an angled shape bottom and flat top as seen HERE
Also early VW Karmann Ghia car's had an angled type indicator with a flat surface although they were in chrome.

An aside.. does that pert little mouth really allow enough air flow for the radiator ? or do you have to be "speeding well" all the time to say cool ?

Not really unless you live where 70* is a hot summer day.
Even a fresh recored stock radiator didn't cut it pulling the mountain hills in the summer. My Speedwell nose has all the inside shrouding too but it just did not let in enough air.
I am using the Geo Metro radiator and it works fine.
As for the parking lights, I got rid of the Lucas beehives and opted for the Land Rover style flat lens which fits the same hole but you do need the whole lamp because the bulb is recessed more on the LR lamp than the beehive lamp. Same rubber gasket and outer chrome ring.
 
All great ideas guys! Frank, I am curious about the Geo Metro Radiator. iI still have the original 948, but temps here in the summer are commonly over 100 F. I saw the singal picture over on SpriteSpot. Do you have any more? I am also thinking the plinith for the B/E without bumpers should work to make the car street legal here in California.

That is a single row- is that any better than a stock Spridget radiator?

Perhaps the copper cores are two rows and the aluminum ones are single row? It may be just as efficient. I like the idea of the aluminum one better. Should be much lighter than a stock Sprite radiator.
 
Single row aluminum is for manual trans and is too tall. The two row is for the auto trans and is shorter, so that is the one needed as Frank mentioned in the previous post. I think I'm going to get one.
