Hi from Montana! Does anyone have any info on sticky speedometers? I read somewhere you could operate on one and clean something or grease it. I don't want to destroy it so any info will be appreciated. Thanks. ('65 sprite)

Owby:

My speedo was "sticking" and we lubricated it with grease. Didn't help. Ended up sending it away to be rebuilt. Same with gas guage.

They both work well now.

Before you go crazy, make sure it isn't the cable. Get under the car and disconnect the cable. chuck it in a drill (Battery operated is better I think because less torque) try it and see what happens - move the cable to see if that changes anything. if no change, then the speedo - if change, lube the cable and reinstall - simple things first
