Speedometer pinion bush joint washer

According to the service parts list there is supposed to be a copper joint washer where the plastic bush meets the transmission housing. Mine is missing (along with an oil seal retaining ring). Does anyone know how thick the washer should be? I assume it acts as a shim or spacer to properly locate the pinion gear within the housing.

I'm not worried about the seal retaining ring. It took me two hours to get the old seal out of the bush. Any retaining ring would be incredibly redundant...

Thanks in advance.

Michael
