Speedometer linkage?

Yes I did replace the reed switch. The packaging and casing on the Hamlin Reed Switch made it easier to mount and it had a nice flat surface to glue to. All of thiis stuff is really simple just some cogitating on different ways to do things using modern technology.

Actually I replaced the reed switch because the little round button magnet I glued on with 5 minute epoxy flew off and damaged the original reed switch. Hence my reference to using J.B. Weld to glue the magnet to the brake drum. Probably caused by heat, softened the 5 minute epoxy. A much better design and solution.
