Speedometer Drive Pinion Bolt

Replaced the speedometer cable on the TR250 today and noticed that the drive pinion peg bolt is missing.

It must have vibrated loose (or I forgot to replace it last time  ). At any rate, neither Moss nor Roadster Factory list this bolt. I can make one on my lathe if someone could please provide the dimensions.

BTW, is that a copper crush washer under the bolt head?

Thanks, Frank

You guys and your lathe work give me heart burn

Aw c'mon, Frank. If you can run a lathe, surely you can figure out how to measure for that peg!

However, I make out dimension A ~= .550", B ~= .780", C~= .220". Overall is 1.570". Spigot diameter is .232", shank is .308", threads appear to be 5/16NC.

I'm reasonably certain the shank is not important in this case, likely any 1.5" bolt would work if you turned (or even filed) down the tip.

The TRF diagram for TR6 shows both a flat washer (not copper) and lock washer, but my TR3 SPC shows only the lock washer (and that's all I found on the TR3 gearbox I just robbed it from). Bolt has the same part number though, so it should be the same for your TR250 as well.

BTW, most machinists seem to hate the Smithy "all in 1" machines. I wouldn't know though, as mine is a slightly earlier version of this:

And no, it is NOT for sale!

I think that is CRS

Or did you forget?

Shouldn't leave a chuck key in the chuck like that...it's an accident waiting to happen.

Good point, but I assume the shot was staged to show what was included.
