My initial plan was to remove my speedo for repair. My local wrench told me that on the later models, they inserted into the dash and then twisted, sort of a cam lock. I didn't ask which direction it should turn. Mine doesn't budge in either direction. Does any one know if it is CW or CCW, looking at the front of the gauge?
Having run into this problem, I started pondering the question of replacing the dash itself. In doing so, I would have access to the back of the speedo, and the dash is starting to show some cracks. The Moss catalog describes the item as a "dash cover". What is meant by "cover"? Does it install right over the top of the old dash; do I have to peel the old dash plastic off of a metal backing; or do I remove all the bits from the old dash, install them in the new dash, and put it all back into the car?
I would still prefer to remove only the speedo at this time. The cost is starting to add up.
Regards,
Bob
