I finally got tired of watching my speedometer making 10 to 15 mph fluctuations at speed, so I bought a replacement cable and housing. Here's the dumb question -- where does it hook up to the transmission? I pulled out my spare ribcase transmission, and I can't for the life of me figure out where it goes. I could cheat and put the new cable in the original housing, but if there's something in the housing that is causing the cable to bind, then I'm back in square one.
Other than that, the winter work is proceeding okay. I already have the new retractable seatbelts in. What a difference! Also have the "new" carbs on, but haven't had a chance to fire up the car yet. Definitely curious to see how this is going to work out. I may get a chance this weekend, but setting a mixture in 35 degree weather probably isn't going to end up being where it needs to be come spring. The rest is just rountine maintenance and changing all the fluids. The car should be ready for the spring in a couple of weeks, even if the Mother Nature isn't.
