Speedometer Cable Routing Question

I'm about to put the tunnel back on, but the speedo cable was routed up the cockpit side of the scuttle, sandwiched between the bulkhead and the extension panel ahead of the tunnel.

This does not seem correct.

Can someone help me with a description of the correct routing?

I'll take a guess. There really isn't much of any other place for the cable to go, given it's short length. The area where it is sandwiched should have a bit of a dent to prevent squishing the cable. The earlier Healeys are done this way. Some where around the BJ era the cable was stuck through a hole in the top of the tunnel & looks worse, IMO.

IIRC, that was done begining with the fibreglas tunnel/center shift transmission.

The side shift trans cars did have the cable routed as Brian says...

As you've come to expect from me, mine is now routed through the engine compartment and through an opening in the bulkhead
