have a 70 e-type. since rebuilding the transmission the speedo tries to work up to about 20 mph then the needle just bounces off the zero peg.Have tried cables,90 degree drive, and even another speedo, all to no avail. After much contemplation the only diagnosis I can think of is that I'd failed to properly install a small woodruff key that lock's the speedo drive gear to the shaft inside the transmission, effectively letting the gear slip or "freewheel" instead of positivly driving the speedo cable? Does this make sense, and has anyone else run into this problem ? and MOST IMPORTANTLY can I fix this without removing the entire engine and trans.....Thanks Glen
