Speedo needle

Since I haven't driven the car since '07, I've forgotten a few details. My speedo needle wavers back and forth about 4 MPH , is that pretty much normal or do I need the lube the inside of the cable?

I've worked on my speedo for years; now, I've got it so it just barely wavers at 70mph. It requires everything to be clean and lightly lubricated. Pull the cable--just disconnect at the back of the speedo and gently pull it out. Make sure it's not kinked, clean it well and lube it with your choice of lubricant--I use silicone lubricant; it dries to a 'hard' finish and doesn't accumulate dirt like oils and greases--and put it back in. If the needle still bounces either there is gunk in the cable sleeve and/or something binding inside the speedo. If it's not random bouncing--i.e. it bounces rhythmically proportional to road speed--it's likely caused by a cracked gear; one of the ones that drive the tripmeter and odometer off the main worm gear.

The car sat since 2007 before I sent it to Four in Tune, Tom sent it out for a rebuild / recalibrate so I'm gonna start with the cable first.
