Speedo...just gets quicker and quicker!

Hello All,

my speedo has always read a little optimistically, but the last couple of times I have taken the car out (a 65 FX4, Black cab), the speed starts at zero and slowly increases until it hits the hard stop at about 80 mph and stays there!!

I have never taken a speedo apart but assuming there is a return spring (or similar) that needs a look. Any ideas??

These speedos appear on all sorts of old British cars so hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction

cheers
