speedo cable out

Country flag
Offline
I've got the speedo cable out of the car at the moment - don't ask me why, see earlier posts about leak in overdrive. My question is should I remove the cable and put some oil on it while I've got it, and also on the tip where it goes into the speedometer? If yes, then what kind of oil?
Anybody ever notice how one thing never just leads to another with these cars, it usually leads to five other things
