Mornin Folks. I'm ready to install the speedometer and the tachometer. Question though, looks like it might be smart for me to hook up the cables now and then put the units in. Appreciate any thoughts or comments.

If you are referring to the drive cables, they are pretty accessible anytime. You may get a better view if you do the cables first, though.

Might be marginally easier that way; it can be a bit difficult to get the cable nut started on the back of the instrument with it already installed in the dash.

But be sure to install the rubber grommets first, if your cables didn't come with them already installed. They have to go over the small instrument end of the cable.
 
Randall, if your talking about firewall grommets, yep they are on. Good point though. So many things to think about!
