I am about to pull my hair out!!! Its the second time and almost 2 weeks of waiting, and AGAIN I got a wrong size sleeve (99168).... :wall:

Does anyone know what size sleeve I should order for rear oil seal for the 80B tranny? The correct Speedi-sleeve part number would be great!!!

No ideas from me, sorry. Are you seeing evidence it NEEDS it?
 
Doc, the flange is pitted with a groove and worn. a new seal won't hold unless a sleeve is fitted. Here is a closeup of the ugly flange;

I have just returned another wrong size sleeve back to the supplier.... :wall:

I'll call bearing suppliers in my area tomorrow and see if I can take the flange down to their store and get it fitted...

I don't have a caliper to measure the flange, so I used a ruler and sighted the bore of the oil seal. It's 1 and 9/16" or 1.563" which will be SKF 99156, but, I am not sure if this is the right size????? I may have to take the flange down to harbor freight and "borrow" their caliper. :cowboy:
 
I have a Gaco number (M11061753/8) for the front (input shaft) seal but NO <span style="font-style: italic">rear</span> reference. :frown: Sorry!
 
Buy a second hand flange with out the pitting and groove. An industrial supply house will have the correct size. But sure to apply joint sealer to the outside of the seal upon re-fitting.

Thanks for the tips. I've just ordered the speedi-sleeve 99156 from amazon.com. It has a nominal diameter of 1.563". I will update if it fits the flange once I receive it. I am surprised neither moss nor VBL sell it with the seals.
 
If the internal diameter of the sleeve is too small, have a machine shop turn the flange down just enough so you can dry ice the flange and slip the sleeve on. Once installed that way, it'll never move. Or, you can have them turn it down enough to slip on a thick collar they made and then let them turn the collar down to the proper out side diameter. Saying all of that, a good used flange would probably be a lot cheaper. JMHO. PJ
