Spedo issue

Just pulled out the Nisonger rebuilt Spedo to install and decided to give it a short test via variable speed drill. The interesting thing is that the odometer was registering but the speed sat at zero.

I go the same results with the old a new cable (and it was working on removal albeit several years ago)

Suggestions?

Did you have the drill going in reverse???

Does the needle move freely (or is it stuck)? You can likely tell by giving the unit a *gentle* shake to make the needle rise & fall.

Other possibilities (mayne not likely but something is wrong):

Needle sitting on wrong side of the little wire stop that keeps it from going sub-zero

Needle loose on the pin that drives it

Drag cup binding on something

If a shake &/or visual inspection reveal nothing then you may be down to opening it up or returning to the rebuilder.

BTW -- in case it wasn't apparent from the previous post... you want to have the drill in reverse.

Thanks for the pick-up on that. I should have made it clear that the drill needs to go in reverse.

I doubt that I was in reverse( I must have missed that in the posts I read for testing the tach and spedo. I will go for it again when I return to my shop.

Yes the needle does move freely.

AND/ The only problem I have with the other kind of Speedo is there is more in the boot than in the bonnet.

I will give an update tomorrow when I make sure I go with reverse.

Got back to the shop and did the old drill in reverse. Much better result. All's well, I can move on to installing steering wheel and such.
