Special Steering Wheel

Thanks DrE.. and others. From the info in this forum and the Lotus one, I've learned a little more about the wheel. Although the manufacturer is still a mystery, I have discovered that this wheel graced more than just the TR4. It was fitted to the Elan, Cortina, and possibly some other Triumphs. I doubt that it was standard on any of them. Off to ebay in a few days.

Regards,
Mike L.

Well, in the case of Lotus there was (as coldplugs said in the other forum) an odd case: Wasn't much you can call "standard" in those days. Whatever was on the shelf at the time got stuffed on the car next in line to receive it. I've been fortunate enough to have ownership of two of the cars which got that wheel schtupped into 'em at Hethel.

And by-the-by, I've also a Hellebore wheel from an Alfa GTA in my posession. Quite a rare beast as wood wheels go.

As I said I have some pix of Nardi several old, Formula/TR,....2 Les Leston,A wooden one made in Portugal and a French one whose name escapes me now. Moto lita old,among other wheels, and....TA.. DA.. the TR3 wheel Bill Piggott mentions in his book but says he has never seen it. Guess what...he has it slightly incorrect. Now if you guys will get the CIA off my back so I can post pix....maybe I will show ya. I had a LL wheel for a lotus elite,with the center logo,and the matching velocity stack 1.5 SU. A guy in NZ offered me $$$///alas..its gone.

Hey WoodRim;

I guess your not int in a Trade for an E-Type Wheel & have`nt mentioned any Dollar Figures here for Us Poor Souls that May have an Interest in Buying Your Wheel:

So, Let us know when it hits ebay & What the Listing No. will be:

Thanx, Russ

OK DrE,the bid is one Hellebore,and I raise you one Nardi 16( supposed to be metric but I cant remember) inch no dish wood wheel as used in a F 250 America.

Thats Good BoxoRocks;

Keep the Humor in this one! Stamp Collecting Sucks relative to LBC`s & their Parts!

What I don`t understand is; Why WoodRim went thru all this trouble in Locating info etc without even giving Us "Poor Souls" an Opportunity to make an Offer on his Wheel? He obviously has No Intention of keeping the Stupid Thing!!

Nothing Personal there WoodRim just I believe perhaps a bit "Selfish & Greedy":

Have a Really Nice Day;

Regards, Russ

Hey ! I am not selfish and greedy. And just to prove it, here's a pre-ebay offer to all forum members: First guy to offer $1000. can have it. Hurry.

Lempert Wheels

mehheh... How 'bout THAT wheel and $1K, for this Hellebore? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Hellebore will freeze over before you get that. Actually, I'd like to see it. Given your troubles inserting photos, perhaps you can email me directly with attachments. I'll be happy to set up a gallery with all wheels we've been discussing.

H*LLS BELLS, I can top all those offers... First guy with a D-9er dozer and a video camera to come over to film and crush,then shove all this crap into the ground,gets the wheel of his choice. Iced tea and coffee on the house.

Mike, I've NO problem posting photos (other than common laziness). I'll get one t'orrow of the GTV wheel and post it tho. In the "Other Cars" forum, most likely. It's from a european Guilietta GT (1600) I purchased a few years ago. It had been kicking around the military community over there for a while, somebody in the ownership chain apparently fitted it with this wheel! Kinda wild, actually. It got shipped here, then sold to a guy working for Harris in Jupiter. Bought the car from him in the late '80's for less than the wheel is worth. <shrug>

DrE, I am a bit of an alfa fan,what you have is one cool car. I am not sure where you are, but here in the state it would be considered a 105 series Giulia Sprint GT, either a normale or a veloce. A terrific car by any name. Its sometimes refered to as the step nose GT

I'm primarily a Lotus freak, but with a minor in Alfisti. Owned Alfas AND Loti from the early '70's, SOLD Lotus and Alfas in the mid and late '70's. Have owned two step-nose GT's and one 1750 GTV (THE best of the lot, IMO). Never intended to be an Alfa enthusiast, they just kinda followed me home. It's the twin-cams wot hold my interest, I think. This '78 Spider I'm floggin' now is a transplanted 1750 outta a GTV. Weber'd 'n cammed. I just seem to always end up with one and they have to rot out from under me before I'll quit driving 'em.

This is the current engine in the Spider. Built and stuffed it in the car in 2000.

Now thats a handsome engine,and when you consider its vintage,when other automakers weren't to concerened with weight or asthetics of there lumps... I like the red head, looks great. Wheres DK?

The red head was as a joke. Homage to both TestaRosa and Shankle Engineering...

DK is Denmark, but the relevant quiery should'a been: "Where's Elsinore?"

I'm nowhere near either in the physical sense. Naturalised Florida Cracker, morelike. A transplant. "Floridian by choice".

POE?!?!

*SWOON!*
