Specacular RC Plane

I saw this RC P51 elsewhere.

With moving "hands" and live cockpit view, it's really something!

That is really impressive! PJ

AMAZING! Thanks for sharing.

As someone who flew RC and control line "back in the day" This is SO GOOD it is almost not believable. I am in AWE. I would love to know how many hours into this build. Some people just have amazing talent. I was happy if my plane returned in one (or maybe 2) piece.

I figure he’s flying it like usual with a remote control and that the throttle/stick/etc. are kind of robotic “show” linked to the actual controls. The video "head" really makes it.

I used to do RC...and always hoped someday we'd be able to fly from the cockpit with a monitor. Sit in your car and fly it. See where you are...only you'd have to have a very wide angle on top of the fuselage and maybe underneath to check traffic.

Very cool video, thanks for sharing. I imagine he is flying it normally, but I do hope he is using a monitor and flying it from the "pilots seat."

I wonder if he's using a monitor to fly the plane. Very cool.
More likely goggles. They make setups exactly for flying while looking out of the plane. There are also GPS systems to fly the plane back if you lose control.
I am still trying to keep my plane in the air without any of these extra toys

That is COOL!!!!!

Very cool. The only thing which kind of throws me is that most World War II pilots wore gloves. I know that is really nitpicking, but for a history buff like me, it hits me in the head.

I always loved the power to weight ratio that RC planes have over their full-sized counterparts. It actually takes a lot of skill to fly one as smoothly as the real thing rather than trying to fly it within the envelope that you have available to you.

I agree, how dare he not put gloves on his pilot, plus that engine didn't sound like a Merlin. I don't know what was wrong with that guy, some people just have no respect for accuracy. :highly_amused:

Now he has to put a tape in there with a speaker of that merlin winding up and the pilot making his normal comments! Well, making the comments might not be a good idea. :highly_amused: Yeah the gloves would be a nice addition. As it is, it's a really cool setup! PJ

And I just saw this amazing R/C plane (an SR71):

That blackbird is awesome!

That is wild. I've seen some r/c fan jets, but a genuine turbine...wow.

I thought maybe it was some sort of pulse-jet.

That is so cool... with on-board cameras!
