That much? It didn't SEEM that heavy when I had mine out ... either I'm stronger than I realize ... Nah, that's not possible. I'd have guessed 70 lbs. Who knew?

I shipped a ribcase tranny once. It weighed in at 76 lbs and that included a wodden crate.
Buy a new scale man, I'll bet you loose 40 lbs overnight

What shipping company did you use to ship that tranny? And do you know about how much a 1275 wieghs in at ?

S.U., Now do you just set the engine on the bathroom scale or do you lift it and then step on the scale and subtract your wieght?

On the 1275, I understand that it weighs about 250 lbs. I know that doesn't include trans, but I'm only fairly sure it doesn't include ancillaries.

I've been moving the 1500 engine block from my Spridget around quite a bit lately (I'm rebuilding it). In stripped-down form (no head or internals), I doubt it weights more than 70 lbs...it feels about the same weight as a ribcage trans, so that makes sense. In "complete" form, I'd guess 200-250 lbs (engine only).

Naturally the 1500 isn't listed. Also, I think that the weights aren't correct. I have an International Harvester w/ 3.8L AMC Inline 6 engine, and the book lists the engine w/out ancillaries as 375 lbs. That list claims its 500. There can't be that much of a discrepancy ... And I'm inclined to believe the owners manual.

I looked into shipping a 1275 from NJ to WI, I was quoted $334.62 from Roadway. That was about 2 months ago. I did not send it because the buyer's child was stricken with a serious illness and the deal is on hold.
You can save money on both ends if you drop it off at their shop and if it can get delivered to a commercial establishmnet with a loading dock.
A bare 1275 w/head weighs in at about 250 lbs.

I know the smoothcase transmission weighs about 43 pounds according to the airport scale which is hopefully accurate. I'd also go with 250 pounds for the engine as my teacher and I are able to lift it easily to move it around. When I had my engine and transmission shipped I said 385 pounds with the pallet. Looking back that was probably a little generous. You might want to try https://highwayfreight.com/
From florida to kansas it was going to be about $205 if I could ship from a commercial location. Unfortunately I could only get it shipped to a commercial location and not picked up from one. so that made is $275 plus $75 because the guy couldn't use his engine lift to get it on the truck and they had to use a gate lift. Don't ask me.
