The cash v. card thing is interesting. Everybody looks at it a little different and has a way that works for them. I hardly ever use a credit card, but use my debit card all the time.
If I pull cash out of my account in my head it is more or less already spent so I am more likely to do stupid things with it. Everytime I use the debit card I know it is drawing down the balance in my account, so I am actually more careful with my money with the card.
I have explained this to a few people and they look at me funny, so maybe it is kind of a weird frame of mind, but works for me.
I hardly ever have any cash in my wallet, and when I do it seems like there is always a family member who seems to think they need it more than me, so it is soon gone, which is another reason I stopped carrying it.
