Speaking of Bugeye bonnets

Country flag
Offline
This is Jim Linn's persoanl street car, Jim has long been the maker of the very best fiberglass flared fender Bugeye Bonnets for SCCA racing, if you raced a Bugeye in the SCCA, then you either had or wanted a Jim Linn nose. Anyway he sold the molds for his racing bonnets to Barry Knicekrbocker of VTO wheels awhile back, and made a final one for himself and Bugeye project car he was working on, needless to say he reworked it to give it and the Bugeye a more modern look, he also shortened the windscreen and tilted it back a little further, thought you all would enjoying seeing Jim's creation.

The headlights look like Suzuki Cappuccino lights.

I think they said they were Dodge Neon headlights, and the turn signal lights were off a motorcycle.

Dodge neon lights.

I greatly appreciate the talent and creativity of someone who can do something like that. I think the bonnet looks superb. I don't, however, care for it on a Bugeye. The front and the rear just don't go well together. If I were to stray away from and original bonnet I would go with a Walker or have an original modified to replicate Coker's prototype with the Testarosa look.

That's what happens when tyou leave a BE, Miata and a Shelby 1 alone too long.

Nice work, too modern for my tastes.

I wonder what the top speed difference is between this nose and the original nose. I bet its quite a bit. I remember reading that going from the BE bonnet to the speedwell monza bonnet gave 7mph more top speed at Sebring. That is a ton.

Na, that's only for the Sebring bonnet. You gotta change it out if you run another track. :jester:
