Speakers Question

Has anyone installed speakers in their TR6 doors? If so what size did ya use and were you happy with the sound that they produced in that location. I currently have a pair of POLK 6x9's in boxes behind the seats am looking to kick my sound up a notch. The kidney pads don't really allow you to put anything in that location that will produce decent bass response. Thanks

Hi Jerry - I had door panel speakers in the '71 TR6 and they sounded awful, the speakers themselves were lousy but anything with any punch to it is likely to rattle the door components. I wouldn't say don't do it, but I would caution on not expecting great results. As they say, your mileage may vary.

Let us know what every you decide to do and how it works out!

A friend of mine did a nice job in his TR250, using a black speaker screen, and it looked fine, but still I'm not sure I'd do it.

In the early 70s, I put speakers in my TR4. The speakers sounded bad, and, at least for me, the look was wrong. I'd like to go back to high school and change about ten other things I did wrong.

I removed my entire radio system (giant speakers and all). Couldn't hear the thing unless I was parked and the engine off.

I guess earphones are illegal......

Miata seats have speakers in the headrests!

but till I get them my system is 2-5" in the kidney pads 2-6x9" in boxes behind the seats driving by a Alpine 1600w amp

I can hear it just fine!
It aint rocket science, but it works well............

being a music lover I think it adds to the LBC driving experince
