spark plugs for 1275

Well... here is the first of what may be considered "dumb questions".

What type (brand/number/heat-range?) of spark plug should be used in a 1275 (it is in a bugeye). Most of the driving is going to be around town. I am partial to Bosh platinum for my other cars, so is that a good choice?
Thanks

That is what I use in my 1500. I know that in the haynes book it lists the same champion number so probably the Bosh plugs would be the same as well. What year is the engine cuz I think that makes a difference.

I have been using NGK BP6ES for 30 years. Now days they come in BPR6ES (r = resistor) for radio equiped cars.
I found they last longer than Bosch, and way longer than Champions. And a lot cheaper than Platinum
BP7ES is a little hotter, BP5ES is cooler.
8s would be the hottest and still keeping the pistons hole-less /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have heard mixed things about the Platinum plugs, most of it not too good. For years I ran Champion N9Y plugs. A friend with a 1275 Austin America (and former VW Mechanic) got me to try Bosch W7DTC plugs. As these are VW plugs they certainly aren't traditional. However, they have been wonderful and running in my car for over a year with good results. These plugs have three fixed ground electrodes surrounding the center conductor, you can't regap them. They run about $5/each. These were designed to run for a long time... typically more than 50k miles in water cooled VW/Audi engines. My only warning about them... don't use them if you're burning a lot of oil as they oil foul easily.

I think you will find that on the NGK - a lower number is hotter, a higher number is cooler. This system is opposite to the Champion numbering system.
