I'm going to respectfully disagree, at least for the later bodies. The spare tire well was enlarged, and unless the tire you have fits pretty snug, it can bang around in there enough to do some damage.Don Elliott said:You will never need them. I used to think that until I spun the front of the car into a wall. The spare tyre must have hit the front of the spare wheel compartment and then bounced back, popping the cover off, which the car behind ran over! Newer tires won't even slide easily with the door off. You may want them for originality, but no VTR or TRA judge has ever required me or any other sidescreen TR owner to open his spare wheel well in 18 years. They don't judge the inside.
