TR2/3/3A Spare tire cover

Does any one have an idea about the extra holes that look to be for lights but that does not make sense , maybe a reflector? Before I fill the holes wanted to make sure they do not belong. I have not been able to find any pictures of a spare tire cover like this. Frank

Frank my 1959 spare tire cover does not have the extra holes. I see no reason for any lights in that area.

Neither my current car nor the one I had in the 60s had any holes but for the latches and the tag.

The fact that there are three small holes suggest someone put "beehive" lights there in the past.

Mine neither. Maybe backup lights?

I have never seen that before Frank and it looks like the holes for the license plate are for USA plates. I have seen the license plate holes both ways either European or USA.

No extra holes in my 56. Agree, looks like the right size for beehives.

Thank you all for the confirmation. I was pretty sure it needed to be corrected. Easy repair so that is added to the list. I like having projects waiting so I can tackle it when the mood strikes. Frank
