Spare lid gasket

Hi,

I've put a new spare lid gasket today. I was first surprised that it was not identical to the trunk lid gasket. However I glued it there and after I could not compress the lid enough to lock it. What did I do wrong? Does anyone have the perfect placement of this gasket?

Thanks

Yvan - When I put in the rubber foam seal for the lid (cover) for my spare wheel, I had to take a sharp knife or scissors and cut about half of the thickness off. Then I used contact glue and installed the thinner seal. It has fitted tightly for the past 21 summers now.

So you have a TR3 in addition to the TR6 and TR7 mentioned in your profile? Might not be a bad idea to update it ... and a better idea to mention which car you are asking about in the post!

The TR3 spare tire seal I got from TRF last year fit perfectly, no cutting required. But it's a lot different than the trunk seal.

Put all your cars in your siggy. That way we don't have to go diggin for it.

Your right,

I will update the profile. The TR6 is my everyday car. The TR3A is almost complete. The TR7 is out of my yard.

When you own Triumph's, you need to have a few ones so there would be a chance that one runs when needed.

thanks

I tried that theory, didn't work for me! Keeping one running is about all I can manage; if I buy more, then I just have more that are in need of attention!

But I probably should update my sig, to indicate that one of them is running
