I've read that there's a spare key hiding under the bonnet of MG's?

The A's have them around the heater...
And the B's have them around the inner fender/wheel well? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I might have to explore a bit... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Did they do this to all years?

Has anyone found one + taken a picture of where it's located?

Had a new B in 1965 and never heard of a spare key hidden. Maybe the dealer unhid it and gave it to me?

The 'spare key' on a TR3 is in the fuse box... you pull the horn fuse, turn it endways, jam it between the lower pair of fuse clips & go.
 
yea, mine's in the trunk on the midget - two wires. one to jump ignition into ON position and one to crank the starter. this is not a factory option, i bought it aftermarket at home depot for a few cents.
 
I believe that TR4s had them behind a taillight, held in with one of the machine screws holding the light assembly to the body. I've heard no such thing about MGBs, but I'll check my books anyway.

MGB's, early, were by the brake pedal box. I once found the spare key in my TR250 tail lite and was real excited about it. Then I put it on the trunk and then put my tools away. YUP, took it for a spin and forgot about the key.I went up and down the road many times looking fot it, nada.
 
I have owned five MGs from new and one Triumph from new... several from used... never found a key or heard of one. I had a neighbor look for some "prop wash" and sent a recruit looking for "firing line"... asked for a "shelf stretcher" and "sky hooks" too, but might have to look for a "spare key"; to satisfy my own curiosity. I would think they would have placed it inside in case one were to get locked in.

My "spare key" has two wires with large aligator clips on each end.

I am just not sure if you guys are pulling my leg or just something I never knew.
