Yeas, I know, it's probably on TV, but for anyone interested, heres a Live Stream

(Someone comes on from the team and speaks every so often)

18k and climbing.

On this very day in 1947, Chuck Yeager became the first man to break the sound barrier in a plane. Felix hopes to do it without the plane!

He just said he wasn't getting heat (I assume to his suit). Then the mission control audio went silent. Doesn't sound good.

Apparently his facemask heater isn't working allowing it to fog up. Wonder what the abort plan/method is.

The Live Stream is running a little over a minute behind the Discovery channel. Gives you instant replay capability - especially when a commercial comes on.

I'm recording from the live stream and the Disc Channel.

While we wait, here's a pretty cool CGI of the jump:

Update: To be clear, apparently the APRS station is a second balloon and not on the manned capsule. They launched around the same time but from two different locations in Roswell.

Got kicked off the live stream and can't seem to get back on. Rats!

I've been with it since about 40,000 and it's now at about 96,000 feet. Evidently, he's coming up on the height from which he jumped last July. Won't be long before he's above the world record. Still amazing that the old record was back in 1960 (presumably without all this tech)!

Interesting that the commentator said that if he breaks the sound barrier, it would happen in the 1st 30 seconds.

The fool is gonna do it....

Wow!!! He did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and he landed on his feet- Now just how awesome is that?

They are starting to call him "Felix- The Cat- Baumgartner"

Awesome. My question, don't laugh, here it comes... What happens to the capsule?

Comes back on a parachute, Judy.
