Spa White Paint

I need to do some touch up under the hood, leaking master cyl. My TR4 is a 63 CT12972L. I believe it is supposed to be Spa White. Standard did not assign paint numbers until mid 63. I repainted it in the early 70's, but I don't think I used the correct color as the unused tin lid for the surrey seems to be a more of an off white. Anyway, I found a PPG number 8335 but PPG does not show it. Question is, is it really supposed to be Spa White? Where do I get the paint formula?

Mark-

Do you have a small part you can pull off the car painted in spa white? For what you want to do it might be easier, and more accurate to take a part direct to a paint shop and have them custom match something on the fly. Worked for me with my TR4, only downside has been I still don't have a formula for the color I have.

8335 does correspond to PPG's formula for Spa White, but that was in the 1960s; I'm sure it has changed. But I'd think that someone at PPG could cross-reference to a current formula? Worst case scenario? The trunk lid is probably easiest to remove and take for a color-matching scan.

I've come up with more numbers, nothing seems to work. I'll take in the original color tin lid a get it scanned. Not sure why I am getting hung up on this as other things in and on the car are certainly not correct. I see some restored TR4's in Spa White for sale on the internet, wonder how they managed it, maybe they had to scan also. I am sure there is a modern car color that is very close, just don't know what it is.

My TR3 was originally red and when the PO restored it in 2005 he changed it over to BRG. I bought several spray cans of different BRG's that "looked" the same on the web before finally taking my car down to a specialty paint store and have it digitally copied and had a couple of cans made up. It turns out the color the computer determined my car is does not match any "known" colors - hey, I guess I have an original :D

Took the old lid outside and took a picture with a piece of white paper for contrast.

The Surrey lid is the original color and has been on the car very rarely, at least since 1969 when I bought the car. It has been stored in a cloth bag hanging on the garage wall. I found some info on Spa White in the archives of Team.Net. Someone posted they had scanned some part of their Spa White car and it came to a 97% match for a late model Dodge Truck color called Stone White. The research continues.
