I don't want to compromise the originality of my car with an alarm system, but I'd like an immobilizer option, just in case.

I think these cars would be pretty easy to steal!

Anything that fits on the SP for sure out there? Steel sleeve for the steering wheel, devices that lock the brake and clutch together, something that keeps the transmission locked into one gear?
 
I've seen this on TV - seems to make sense - I think about $400

Put a big ugly fish nose on it, and some fins and then it will be so ugly no one will want to steal it. Sorry that was mean but I couldn't pass on the chance.
 
On my other ones, I used the turn-off valve on the fuel filter (joke) jar figuring it would take someone a while to find that. On the driver the jar has been replaced, so I rely on the looks like Walter said. An electrical kill switch is probably the least intrusive.

I immediately scanned your sig to find a vehicle I could make fun of... the ambulance seemed the most likely culprit, but I have one in my driveway right now too :wink:

I'm in Saskatoon. I'm originally from Toronto though (used to live near Don Mills - my family is still there).

I'm in Ontario fairly often, and I keep my track car there, since Mosport, Shannonville and Calabogie all beat the pants off any tracks I would find locally.

I also lived near Parry Sound, and I moved to Saskatchewan last year from Halifax.

Whereabouts are you?

Years and years ago someone stole my MGB.

They got out of the parking lot and only then discovered I'd pulled both front brake calipers off for maintenance....


Kind of odd as theft prevention but it did certainly "stop" them... so to speak....

Ah, I've lived very near to there too! I lived in Kitchener, in the converted Edwardian Victoria School Apartments - near the bus depot.
 
you've been everywhere man! You weren't ever in Ancaster were you? I remember a 250 there about 10 years ago
 
One devious method that works is to hook an unused dash switch (or under dash switch) from ground to the distributor. It won't run if the ignition is shorted out.

Few thieves will play around with all the switches trying to figure out what is going on, and this works even if the hot wire the car, as long as the grounded wire stays on the coil.
 
Bill that is clever to put a break in the ground rather than the hot on the coil. Really good idea.
