I started a user group here https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcf/group.php?groupid=2 to get some local guys together.
The weekend of the 15th and 16th of December I am inviting you to join us for some metalshaping at our Shoppe. There is no charge, I have a well tooled shop and willing to help you with your project. Last month we focused on gas tanks and one of the projects was a flat side Norton tank from about 1920. Safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection are required!

Well if you come back this way let me know, you can spend the day! I don't get out that much, bad knees and shoulders.
Even have an English wheel if someone wants to do some wheeling, that is how Jim made the top of his tank. He was amazed on how it worked, over wheeled it, then had to wheel the outer edges and by golly he is spot on with the shape. He had never used a Ewheel before, had only seen them on TV, I got to laugh cause he gave me the look of don't leave me here...... only way to learn is by doing! I did set the pressure and pic the lower anvil, there was a sketch of were to wheel and not too wheel. It's not that hard!!!!

My weekend is already booked (busy time of year)...but will look at attending future gatherings. I've not done a mapquest from Champaign to Shiloh but I'm guessing about 4 hours.

Rick, about 2.5-3 hours, I'm hoping to do one a month, what are you interested in doing??? I need some help sand casting! need some prats for my spinning lathe. The next one will be early in January as my son will still be around. It helps having him around, but another young fellow is close when he isn't busy he helps a lot. They are my Tig welders, unless it is junk, I can weld junk... it's hard to explain but my tig welds on junk are better than my weld on good stuff. I'm 20 miles east of the Arch in St.Louis, easy to find just off I-64.

Arrgghhh - 12 hours away! I'd be there in a heartbeat otherwise. Good on you for sharing though.

We had 10 come for one or both days, the power hammer seems to get the most attention. Not sure if global warming will be in place yet in January, we will see. I have a couple of guys from Cleveland who want to come in February. 3 guys came down from northern Illinois. btw it was near 60 degrees each day wow! If your going to be in the area pm me I give you my phone number. for pics see the fb page (the sluggo slow shoppe is a inside joke,we even have theme music!)
