Sourcing snaps for folding top frame

I'm currently refurbishing a folding (Michelloti) top frame for my MGB and one of the riveted on snaps is missing. The missing one is one right by where the frame attaches to the body.

Are these snaps something I can source from somewhere? Ideas as to where?
 
Drew, if you have an upholstery shop nearby, I'd give them a try. Take your old snap with you if possible. If they can't help, they should be able to tell you where they can be had. Just an idea. PJ
 
If they're a similar size to what the newer tops used, you might even have luck at a fabric store like Jo Ann's.
 
Didn't even thing of somewhere like JoAnnes. Will also ask the guy who will be fitting the top -- he may have sources for them.

Cleaned up the frame and header tonight, will get things painted up tomorrow.
 
The snaps used are standard 3/8" inside diameter for MGs, Triumphs, Austin Healeys, you can get them at your local hardware store usually, buonly in metal (silver) finish). Good suggestion on the craft store, after looking all over for a local source for black buttons I visited my local craft store, Michaels, they had the black finish snaps, cheap and in stock.
 
Good to know they're a standard size. I wound up pulling what I needed off my spare scissor frame (that I'll never use). I guess that's why you never throw things away...
 
Marine supply houses carry a wide variety of snaps and fasteners, too. :wink:

Not many marine supply houses up here in the mountains, though...

I s'pose not. Cabela's, mebbe?
 
Lots of craft stores (locals like that sort of thing), and there is a Cabelas. Truth told there probably are some marine stores down in the city -- lots of recreational boats and such around here for fishing/etc on the lakes.
