TR6 Source for TR6 lower left and right crash pads?

Hello,
I just received both lower crash pads from TRF after waiting over a month. Both pads are very poorly made. Has anyone bought any of these lately that they are happy with, and can you give me the source you purchased them from?
Thanks, Kevin

What was poorly made about them. I just received a set from Rimmer Bros, and they look pretty good, they look more "rubbery" than the original. FWIW, they were much cheaper from Rimmer than TRF so I will probably be ok with them.

Call them and let them know how disappointed you are with them. They'll take them back. They might even do a close examination of them and maybe buy elsewhere.

I already planned on returning the pads to TRF. There are a number of things wrong with them. They look fine in the thin area. As they wrap around the wider portion to the door they are warped, with the plastic going in numerous directions. I still have the original crash pads-they are formed smoothly all the way around and fold behind where they get wider toward each door. I might try Rimmer Bros. Did you use standard or express when you ordered them? I can't seem to figure out what shipping costs are from the site.

I bought mine from Rimmers and they look good and fit great. Shipping was fast too. Can't remeber how much the shipping was, but if you request a quote they will provide one.
This morning I got an email from Rimmers with a discounted offer on gift certificates (vouchers). Have a look at their website to see the amount of the voucher and the discounted price.... it's actually not a bad deal.
Lastly, the dollar was on the upswing last I looked so the exchange rate is not as bad as it has been.
Hope this helps.

Here is the offer I just got from Rimmers:

Purchase a Rimmer Bros ÂŁ5 voucher and pay only ÂŁ4.50
Purchase a Rimmer Bros ÂŁ10 voucher and pay only ÂŁ8.75
Purchase a Rimmer Bros ÂŁ20 voucher and pay only ÂŁ17.00
Purchase a Rimmer Bros ÂŁ50 voucher and pay only ÂŁ40.00

The last one is 20% off... not bad!

I can post a picture or 2 when I get back to my house on Friday if it helps and shipping was about $20. I don't recall what mode of shipping I requested, but I think it ended up being express.

I see you are in Washington State. Have you contacted the folks at BPNW? They seem to be expanding their product line to more than just mechanicals... They are a lot closer to you than "jolly old England". So I would suspect minimal shipping charge.

I'd also expect them to give you an honest answer on the product quality - they've been really good/honest to deal with in my experience.

Thanks for the input. I would rather pay more money for a good part any day, but I have found that more money doesn't always equate with a better part. Postage can really end up being a killer when I have to return bad parts. If you could post a picture that would be very helpful. I am leaning toward Rimmer Bros at this point. The only downside will be that it will probably not be very practical to return the crash pads due to postage if there is a problem. I already checked out BPNW - I normally try out sponsors of this site first. They do carry these but are out of stock at the moment.

Sorry for the delay, but here are some pictures of the Rimmer Bros crash pads.

Wow, those look nice! Thanks for the pictures. I went ahead and ordered from Rimmer Bros., and those pics you posted give me more piece of mind. They are far superior to the junk I received from TRF. I wish I would have taken pictures and posted pics of the of the ones I ordered from TRF to show as a warning. Thanks again.

Re: Source for TR6 lower left and right crash pads

FWIW, I picked up a passenger side crash pad a while back from TRF. Here it is installed:

The quality seemed OK to me, but there was quite a difference between the original, almost glossy finish of the original, and the matte, "pebbled" finish of the repro part. I wound up acquiring a good original piece to better match the current interior, but don't think I'd hesitate to get all four matching pieces new from TRF.... (NFI)

BTW, can't wait to see pix of Ryan's interior finished!
