Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

So I can mount some old school slotted wheels similar to the American Racing wheels back in the day. I was quoted $60.00CADplus $20.00 shipping from the UK. Wondering if there is a US source that is cheaper or is that just what you have to pay for that type of stud?

Re: Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

Are you sure you need longer studs? The wheels I have are supposed to be located by the shank of the nut (meaning the nut has to extend into the wheel). Found the nuts at one of the speed shops, Jegs or Summit.

Moroso used to offer fully threaded 7/16-20 studs, but I couldn't find them last time I looked.

You don't want to part with those slot wheels do you Randal? the set I have needs to have bolt holes relocated.

Re: Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

Are those "Unilug" wheels ? If so, I need ONE of the inserts. Any suggestions on a source ? Thanks, Bob

Re: Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

Sorry, Bob. The wheels I have are not Unilug, and I have no idea where to get one of the inserts. You might try a local wheel store, if they have been in business for a long time.

On the late TR3A I restored, one rear drum had shorter wheel studs. I ground them off, bought 4 longer ones at NAPA and welded the new ones on. It cost me about $4.00.

Sorry, no. But I don't think they are all that rare, you might look around for some. I believe they were sold for Datsun Z-cars (which use the same bolt circle as TR2-6).

Here's a set on eBay:

Re: Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

It seems the Z car rims are 14" instead of the 3's 15". Don't know how they would look in the TR3 fender well? Are yours 14"? Have you ever see any pics of the Z wheels on a TR3? I'd like to see how they look. I think the slot wheels with the correct bolt pattern are harder to find in a 15" wheel rim.

Re: Source for TR3 wheel studs that are 1" longer?

They did come in 15" as well, I was just in a hurry and didn't read the auction carefully. Might be the 15" are a bit less common, but they are around. I have a set in 15x5.5 and another in 15x7. (I could probably be talked out of the 15x7, if I don't have to ship them.)

These are probably 15", in spite of what it says in the auction

Obviously, things don't stay up for long on eBay, and new things pop up all the time. If you don't find a set to your liking today, keep checking back.
