I want to switch the front drum brakes to disk on my 62 Sprite. I have everything but the king pins and I understand the kingpins are different. Can anyone tell me who has them. Moss does'nt have them.

Walter, I'm assuming you have the swivel axles for the disc brake setup. VB has kingpin kits listed, P/N 5-227. About $80.00 for both sides, including bushings, taper pins and seals.

When I took the disc brake setups off a parts car I didn't know how to get the kingpins off. Now I can't get back to it so I have to buy the kingpins. Thanks for the tip Jeff.

Walter, if you didn't get the king pins off, how did you get the swivel axles?
The existing drum brake axles on your '62 will not work with disc brakes.

It wasn't easy and it's been a while. But I remember having to loosen alot of bolts to get the swivel axel off. I wish I knew then what I know now. I would be alot farther along for less money. Maybe I should wait till an other setup comes along. All the existing front cylinders are shot and I don't want to do it twice. I have plenty other things to work on.

Walter,I don't know what I was thinking. You must have pulled the upper trunnions, and slid the axles from the kingpins, leaving them still attached to the lower control arms.
A lot of work, regardless of how you go about it.
