Now that I have nice shiny floors... what's the current wisdom on soundproofing? Anyone have a favorite material?

Understand Home Depot has some good stuff.

I use earplugs. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

John,

How much Second Skin would you recommend to do cockpit & trunk of a spridget?

Thanks
Tony

Tony,

In my B I used 40 sq ft. to do the cockpit and the inside of the doors. I'm not sure how much smaller the cockpit of a spidget is compared to a B, but I guess you would definitely need less.

I'm also not sure why you would want to deaden a trunk, since you wouldn't be back there to see if it's quiet or not. Then again, you might be Tony Soprano and have people ride in your trunk! LOL!

Only very little people! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I guess your right... as long as I deaden the sound coming from the trunk, I would not need to actually do the trunk. Besides, I'll just tell my kids to wear ear plugs when they ride in the trunk!

Tony,

If you look at my write up, you can see I put deadener on the wall that seperates the cockpit and trunk. It works very well. It also significantly cuts down on heat.

Maybe I should tell my kids I'm going to put them in the trunk if they aren't quiet! LOL!

No clue on Home Depot product, have not looked but West Marine has stuff, sound deading that you put in the engine room of your boat, works great. I have used that.

John,

I saw your writeup - very informative. Hopefully this is something in the budget very soon!

Thanks
Tony

Interesting video. Did y'all notice that Leno has a blue shirt on in every video. Makes it easy to pick something to wear If your closet is full of the same shirt I guess.

Always a blue denim shirt. I once saw him driving down Santa Monica Blvd. in a Stanley Steamer and he was wearing -you guessed it- a blue denim shirt.

And in related news... I was wearing a blue shirt when I ordered some Dynamat ( https://www.dynamat.com/ ). Something like $80 for four small squares to lay down on the floors. I don't want to cover the whole thing, 1) because I want to be able to easily check the condition of my floors, and 2) it's a convertible... it's never going to be 'quiet'. I just want to get rid of the worst of the tympanic vibration from those large, flat floor panels.

It arrives at noon tomorrow... I'll try to take a pic or two.

And now, back to a critique of Jay's wardrobe! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

My money would go on the dynamat. Not the cheapest stuff out there, but I've never heard a bad thing said about it.
