They all sound like that! Thought that's normal & how they were suppose to sound! Use to believe it myself in the early years but know the singer tick tick tick sewing machine sound of loose tappets can be addressed with routine tune ups/valve adjustments. Heard Yes excessive No. Sound of my '72 engine 4/21/22*43 yrs owned 385,040 miles same engine/TR6
